I highly recommend Butler Avionics at New Century Air Center (KIXD) in New Century, Kansas (near Kansas City) for avionics work and, in particular, avionics upgrades. They have been upgrading the avionics in my P35 Bonanza for a number of years. They are excellent to work with and have talented craftsmen performing the work. It probably does not hurt that they are located at the same airport where Garmin has it's corporate hangars.

My most recent upgrade was a Garmin G500 with synthetic vision and a B&C standby alternator. Before the work started, they produced several computer drawings showing my options for placement of the instruments. After we decided on the final panel layout, they began to work their magic.

They installed a new floating panel that was cut on a CNC machine, then powder coated the panel and finally coated and laser-etched the lettering. It really looks very professional. They reworked the left circuit breaker panel and the avionics master panel. The G500 now drives the previously installed Century 2000 autopilot and works great.

I am very pleased with the Butler Avionics workmanship, the professional look of the new panel, and the way the G500 integrates with the Century 2000 autopilot. When in solid IFR, I feel more comfortable knowing that I have the B&C stand-by alternator installed and that it will provide enough power to operate the G500, the GNS530, and the transponder if the main alternator fails.
